Summer Hair - Our Best Tips to Get Your Hair Summer Ready

Finally, a long hot summer! Yay!!
It's been amazing to be able to watch the football, tennis and kids pottering in the garden all the while nursing a cold drink.
I must admit, the heat has sometimes been a bit over bearing but hey,  it's Summer and the perfect excuse for a few cocktails to bring down your body's temperature. That's my excuse anyway.
Ok.. back to the hair... here are my 7 best tips because Ellie turned 7 today.
If you don't already have a Detangling Spray.. you should get one pretty soon. A top tip is to mix it with some water to make it last longer.

1. Protect your hair from direct heat where possible.

This also helps your hair keep the moisture and hydration from the Detangling Spray and Leave-In Conditioner.
- hats, scarves, umbrellas etc.. no one is judging.

Disclaimers ; Go for hats that do not let in direct sunlight and scarves made of silk or materials that won't rub against your hair and cause more damage.

 

2. Put your hair up in loose, comfortable styles

A messy braid , pineapple hair style etc is ideal for simpler wash and go styles because it helps by limiting your hairs exposure to the sun. Tight hairstyles can be damaging because they tend to pull and tear hair and sometimes leads to traction alopecia.

3. Wash Less often

I have written several blogs and many instagram posts about the joys of less frequent shampooing - just ensure you are using the Nourishing Conditioner between shampoo washes. Washing too often strips your scalp of its natural oils, which in turn stimulates additional oil production and makes you feel the need to wash it even more. 

4. Hydration

Keep your detangling spray handy - you will need several top ups during the day in particularly hot heat. We all know that we have to drink more often in the heat. This applies to your hair too. 

5. Condition more regularly

In addition to regular conditioning with our Nourishing Conditioner, use our Intensive Mask at least once a week.

6. Swimming ?

Coat your hair with the leave-in conditioner or detangling spray before swimming. This will help your hair absorb less chlorine.

7. Stay away from the Roots

Try to apply the Leave-In conditioner to your hair, avoiding the scalp. Applying the conditioner on your scalp or right at the roots can sometimes make your hair look greasy and limp.
