Get yourself villa ready with CurlyEllie

It’s that time of the year again where everyone is glued to their TVs as soon as it hits 9pm. Love Island has become a massive hit and there’s no doubt the ITV show provides a lot of fashion, beauty and hair inspiration. While all the islanders are looking great, CurlyEllie is particularly loving one girl’s handmade curls: Lucie is rocking the beach-ready look! Keep reading to find out how you can create the same…

STEP ONE

Make sure your hair is freshly washed. We all know how tough summer can be on hair and especially if you’re on holiday, Chlorine and Sea Water are healthy hairs worst enemies! We recommend using our CurlyEllie gentle Shampoo, summer can be extremely drying for your hair, let alone saltwater so avoid using any shampoos that strip your hair of its natural oils any further. Make sure you apply conditioner after and rinse off.

STEP TWO

While your hair is still damp apply some leave in conditioner to the lengths. How much you use should be dependent on your hair type. If you have fine hair only use a pea-sized amount, for thicker hair use slightly more however remember we want bouncy hair and too much may weigh it down.

STEP THREE

Allow your hair to dry off a bit more, till its just a little damp and ready to go. Split your hair into sections depending on how thick it is. We’d recommend making a parting through the middle of your scalp and horizontally across the back of your hair. The higher you start your sections the higher your waves will be. Begin plaiting each section separately, the more sections you make the tighter your waves will be. If you want your waves to begin at your roots, try French braids. Check out this helpful link to learn to French braid: https://www.wikihow.com/Do-Two-French-Braids.

STEP FOUR

Once your hair is all braided up, spritz some CurlyEllie detangling spray over each braid to help define the waves then leave them to dry. Try to keep the braids in for at least 6 hours, we recommend completing this before bed so you can sleep with them in.

STEP FIVE

Release your waves! Check your braids are completely dry then undo each and finger comb your hair through to mix in the sections. Try not to use a brush to avoid frizz.

STEP SIX

Finally, squirt a pea-sized drop of CurlyEllie styling serum into your hand and rub your hands together. Lightly smooth your hair over with your palms to make your waves glisten in the sun.

… And just like that, you’re ready to walk into the Love Island Villa! Watch out Lucie.
