What is it like to be curly and have curly hair ?

This is one that I am throwing out there and hoping to get an insight into your experiences. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

I have had a life time of being curly and I always wonder if all our experiences are the same ?!?

My daughter Alice has very tight ringlets. She is strawberry blonde and fair skinned and I struggle with keeping her scalp and hair moisturised. We have tried many products like Aveda, Liz Earle, Shea Moisture, Aveeno, curly Sue, Weleda, and the traditional baby products.
Her hair regularly gets matted, forming dreadlocks and I can only detangle it while it is wet with conditioner in. I do this once a week and shampoo once a week as am reluctant to strip her hair and scalp of oils/moisture.
Alice constantly rubs her scalp around the crown area (it is not headlice) so I have concluded it is maybe perfumes from the products we have been using?
I am at the end of my tether as have spent a good couple of hundred pounds on products that don’t work.
Do you by any chance do a travel size of each of your hair products? I would love to try them, but am really reluctant to try another £25 or more on yet more products that don’t work.
    Thanks in advance!
    Keeping my fingers firmly crossed…
